What the course is about

This is an exciting programme designed for learners wanting to explore employment pathways in the Sport and Recreation industry.  Learners will be able to develop skills in a wide range of sports and recreation in a holistic setting. The Sports and Recreation programme has a combination of theoretical and practical components to motivate and capture learner participation, build confidence, develop skills, create a positive learning experience and plan for future careers.  Learners will be engaged in unit standards, which cover core skills and knowledge.

• Will gain skills, knowledge and confidence in safety, basic exercise prescription, customer service and good nutrition
• Gain knowledge in the fitness business environment
• Exclusive  for students at SPII, gain a GYM membership (during school hours) at Hale Health Centre and have access to the latest gym and sport equipment, be able to participate in BoxFIT, GroupFit, and Functional Circuit classes! 
• Be mentored by members of the Mighty Waikato Chiefs, Liam Messam and Tim Nanai-Williams
• Participate in outdoor adventures such as hiking, swimming, surfing and stand-up paddle boarding!

• This course is fee-free
• Must be between 16 -19 years old​
